Athens, the Benaki Museum & picturesque Plaka

A brief city drive will take you from Piraeus into Athens covering the main points of interest both ancient and modern as your guide provides interesting commentary on your way to the Acropolis hill. As you gaze upon the spectacular ruins, your knowledgeable guide will describe in brief the history of these great temples and significant buildings, including the famed Parthenon, one of the greatest monuments in ancient civilization.

Next, you'll visit the Benaki Museum, which houses a group of collections comprising of many distinct categories totalling more than 30,000 items illustrating the character of the Greek world through a spectacular historical panorama. You’ll then enter the old neighborhood of Athens the famed Plaka district. Once in Plaka, you'll be given free time to browse through this historic shopping district. The cobblestone lanes have been closed to automobile traffic, making it easy to browse through the boutiques, souvenir stands, jewelry stores, and flea market stalls. At the completion of your tour you will return to the pier.
