Alexandria City Highlights

Depart from the pier for a drive through the colorful streets of Alexandria viewing beautiful architecture and experiencing the charming aura and nostalgia of yesteryear. Discover the highlights of Alexandria; the statue of Mohamed Ali, the monument to the Unknown Soldier, the Mosque of Abu El Abbas, and stop for a picture of Qait Bey Fort, built on the site of the ancient Pharos of Alexandria.

Continue to visit the eerie and intriguing Catacombs of Shukafa an extensive three level funerary complex dating from the 2nd century A.D. and the National Museum, where treated and restored objects from the sunken palace of Cleopatra are on display. Enjoy a scenic drive to Montaza Gardens to view the summer residence palace of the former King of Egypt, Farouk. Driving along the cornice will give you the panoramic views of Alexandria from the water's edge.

 

Special Notes:
Comfortable walking shoes and a sun hat recommended.

Access to the catacombs is through a spiral descent around an open central well with wide stairs. Musty and humid and could be uncomfortable for people suffering from asthma or have breathing problems

No fees for the use of cameras and videos at all sites visited.

The sequence of visits may vary, depending on the prevailing traffic conditions in Alexandria however all features and inclusions will remain unchanged.
