Elephant Bay Beach Relax

Transfer from the Port of Aden to the Sheraton Gold Mohur Hotel and Resort set on a secluded peninsula on the shores of the Gulf of Aden.

Drive through Tawahi, the British colonial part of Aden with its old houses and buildings, among them the colonial landmark Rock Hotel and across from it the Crescent which is now closed for restoration.

View the bronze statue of a seated queen Victoria looking at the approaching traffic coming from the direction of the Rock hotel as you drive past the small public park.

The drive continues past Prince of Wales Steamer Landing, the original landing site where cruise ship's transit passengers first set foot in Arabia in the 60's on their way to Australia, India and the orient.

Drive past the walled off Catholic church of St Francis with little Big Ben erected on top of the hill rising above the church.

Views of Elephant bay can be seen as the road curves. Elephant bay is divided in two by a land protrusion that looks like a kneeling elephant with its trunk pointed straight ahead dividing the bay into a public beach and Sheraton's private beach. Best photos of the elephant are from Sheraton's private beach.

Arrive at Sheraton Gold Mohur (pronounced "more') meaning sand. The hotel is small and lovely, built on a private, golden sand beach where a welcome drink will be served.

Towels, sun beds and umbrellas will be provided. Changing rooms, toilets and showers are located in the spa centre right on the beach. Arrangements for spa treatments can be made during your visit and paid directly to the hotel.

You can also purchase cocktails and drinks from the small grass thatched round bar in the middle of the beach.

Shady coconut and date palms separate the beach from the swimming pool area. The beach is very clean with golden sands and crystal clear warm shallow waters.

Enjoy the breathtaking views of the ocean, mountains, and lagoon and relax under the hot Yemeni sun.

Splash at the outdoor swimming pool and catch up with family and friends as you lounge in the sunshine. Or enjoy the golden sands and crashing waves at the Resort’s Private Beach.

Special Notes:
Don’t forget your Sandals, Sun Glasses, Sun Block Lotion and some cash for those spa treatments!!
