Ras Mohammed Snorkelling Trip

Lying some 55 km south of Sharm El Sheikh at the peak of the Sinai Peninsula, Ras Mohamed is the most beautiful site in Sinai. It is a national park, maintained strictly natural and protected from the incessant “progress” humans are obsessed with by building facilities for conveniences. It is renowned for having the most exquisite coral reefs in the world and for being a refuge to rare marine life.

Your first stop will be at the promontory of Ras Mohamed, rising 60 meters above sea level. Upon its summit is the so called Shark Observatory from where you can enjoy a unique view of the Gulf of Aqaba.

Continue your drive to the main beach of the park where snorkelling, swimming or sunbathing can be enjoyed.

A stop will also be made at the mangrove swamp of Ras Mohamed to see how plants feeding on salt water reject salt through their leaves before taking the way back to Sharm El Sheikh

 

Special Notes:
Guests are advised to bring their own towel and put on swimwear prior to leaving the ship, as there are no changing, rest room facilities or shaded area at the beach area or the park.

Snorkelling equipment is included with this tour and will be collected from a diving center on the way to the park.

Here you may also hire a wetsuit or a life jacket at an additional cost.

You may encounter broken coral and pebbles getting into the water en route to the snorkelling area.

There is a 100 yard swim out to the reef.

Rough and uneven ground with boulders and dusty sand may also be encountered around the beach area.

Climbing to the top of the promontory is not advised, as the incline is very steep with gravel, large boulders and no handrails.

Sun hat, drinking water and sun block highly recommended.

Guests should take their passports along as the route includes the main road to Cairo that passes a checkpoint.
