Caravan in the Sands

Leaving Port Said in a convoy of luxury air conditioned coaches, your drive through desolate expanse of desert and reclaimed, cultivated land will fascinate you as you approach Cairo, Africa's largest city.

Your first stop will be at the Western Plateau of Giza where a panoramic view of the only remaining Wonder of the Ancient World still stands, the Pyramids of Giza, offering great opportunities for photographs.

Later your coach will stop at the base of Chephren's Pyramid and free time to explore the site will be allocated. From here, your drive continues down the valley where the mysterious Sphinx lies guarding this mortuary complex in eons of silence. Visit the valley temple and continue through rural areas and cultivated fields towards Sakkara Country Club to the awaiting four wheeled air conditioned jeeps for a drive into the desert, towards a designated place where a camel caravan is waiting for you. Experienced camel drivers will lead your camel on a trip in the desert in caravan formation. Feel the desert wind in your hair and sway to the motion of your camel as it strides in leisurely pace through the naked beauty of a desolate and harsh environment. Capture the spirit of the Bedouin as you cross towards Sakkara Country Club, an oasis of welcomed destination.

Here, a country club style lunch will be served for your enjoyment. Later, board your waiting motorcoaches and proceed to Sakkara, Egypt's ancient cemetery. Visit the Step Pyramid of King Zoser, the first monumental building in the world. Return to Cairo and visit a Papyrus Institute where a demonstration will introduce you to the art of paper making from reeds, a science discovered by the Ancient Egyptians. Free time for souvenir shopping will also be allocated before you commence your return drive to the ship.
